experiences in a new universe

My parents never cease to amaze me. Last night I woke up in my crib and got a little bored, so I turned on my mobile. You should have seen them come running! I thought I was doing them a favor by turning it on myself. It’s nice to know that I have a new way of summoning them though, in case I get bored with crying. Today during the day I practised turning off the mobile after mommy turned it on. In other news, my dad’s cousin Nurten and her daughter Gizem have arrived. They brought a suitcase full of food too, so I guess I’m safe for awhile. I have charmed them already of course – it’s amazing what one or two smiles can do.

Dün gece sabaha doğru uyanmıştım, her zaman olduğu gibi yemek servisi için ağlayarak annemi çağırmadan önce gerinmekteyten ayağım birşeylere çarptı. Birden müzik başladı ve yatağımın üzerindeki hayvancıklar dönmeye başladılar. İşin ilginç yanı annem ve babam yüzlerinde komik bir ifadeyler odamda bitiverdiler. Eğer bu düğmeye basınca geleceklerini söyleselerdi her gece o kadar ağlamama gerek kalmazdı. Şimdi basıyorum düğmeye geliyorlar. Kıh kıh kıh…

Dostlar anne ve babamı hiç anlayamıyorum. Gün geçtikçe kafam karışıyor. Son raporumdan sonra onlara fazla zulm etmemen yönündeki tavsiyeleriniz üzerine onlara bir kıyak çekip dinlendirmeye karar verdim. Dün hem güzel öğle uykusu çektim hem de gece 8 saat aralıksız uyudum! Çok hoşlarına gitmiştir değil mi? ne gezer, bu sefer de niye bu kadar çok uyudum, halsiz görünüyorum, vs diye evhamlanmaya başladılar! Pes yani bunlara da iyilik yaramıyor. Ne dersiniz bu gece tüm gece uyutmayayım onları değil mi?
Is there a school for parents on this planet? It seems like there is a school/training for everything should not there be something for parents? I can tell you that my parents definitely need it! After my last report, following the suggestions of my fans, I’ve decided to go easy on them. Yesterday, I’ve taken a long nap during the day and slept 8 hours straight at night, a record!

You’d think they’d appreciate the gesture and be happy, but no! Instead of being happy and thanking me for the favor, they started questioning why I slept so long, and I looked “less active” than usual, etc etc.

What do you think? Should I become “active” again and may be even keep them up all night? May be then they learn to appreciate a good thing when they see it.

You look great on your blog. I was reading it carefully as I was planning my own arrival and it helped a lot. Your right, I’ve only been here for just over a week, but these ‘parents’ need careful watching, I sometimes think (no, I know!) mine have never done this before (the one called ‘mummy’ even knitted me a woollen sweater but its nearly 100 F here in Paris, sheesh!), but if I scream loud enough they can usually work out what I want. But I do wish they wouldn’t laugh everytime my output unit malfunctions and poops out. I tried to teach them a lesson by putting it in overdrive, but they still find it amusing. I’m taking careful notes and am told that my adolescent crisis in around fifteen years time would be an ideal time to remind them of this.

Ella!

I’m two months old! Doctor says I’ve grown to 57cms and 4.65kgs! Don’t take my word for it, and check out the photos.

You may notice that there are not that many pictures of Mama and Papa. There is a reason! I’ve embraced the best defense is offence strategy. These days I methodically test their nerves and make sure they’re exhausted. It works. They are walking around barely concious, no way they think I’m so “sweet” that they want to eat me!

But don’t worry, I know that I can’t completely break them so I let them sleep at night. Poor things they wake up enthusiastic and full of hope that it’ll be a better day. I let them think that till noon, smile at them (seems to really make them happy!). Just when they think life is wonderful, I switch gears and bring on the heat.

I hope they learn not to talk about me as a consumable item, I’m getting tired of torturing them myself!

Artık iyice büyüdüm! Bana inanmıyorsanız aşağıdaki fotoğraflarıma bakabilirsiniz. Son zamanlarda annem ve babamı fotoğraflarda sık görmüyor olmanız dikkatinizi çekmiş olabilir. Bir nedeni var Çok tatlı olduğum için beni yemeyi falan düşünmelerini engellemek için ben önceden atağa geçtim! Bol bol ağlayıp onları iyice yorgun tutuyorum. Şimdilik gayet iyi gidiyor, bizimkilerin ayakta duracak halleri yok gibi artık benim çok tatlı olduğumu düşündüklerini sanmıyorum.

Ama merak etmeyin onları iyice hırpalarsam bana verilen bakım kalitesinin düşebileceğinin farkındayım. O yüzden geceleri uyumalarına izin veriyorum. Sabahları dinlenmiş kalkıyorlar

Önceki raporlarımdan Anne ve Babamın beni tatlı niyetine yemeleri ile ilgili korkularımı hatırlarsınız. Neyseki Babannem duruma el koymuş ve durumu kontrol etmek için Amcamı göndermiş! Beni yemeyeceklerini garantiye almak için olsa gerek Amcamla birlikte bir bavul dolusu da yiyecek göndermiş. Sanırım bu plan işe yaradı, artık beni yemekten çok tahinli pide ve çilek reçelinden bahsediyorlar!
Okay Amca ve Fatma yengeyle beraber ilk kez köyümüzün plajına da gittik. Ben bu sefer yüzemedim ama kim bilir bir sonraki sefere denerim. Babam banyo yaparken küvette yüzme öğretmeye başladı.

Thanks for sending the reinforcements to check upon me! My Uncle Okay and Aunt Fatma have arrived this week from Turkey. They brought a suitcase of food with them, I presume to ensure that my parents won’t think of eating me as long as there is all this good stuff around! Brilliant plan!
Yesterday I went to the beach of our village for the first time. Though I have not dipped into the lake this time, the nap outdoors was most excellent. I think my dad is already trying to teach me how to swim, why else would they keep dunking me in the tub of water every other day?

Bugün “Ben” ile tanıştım ve öğrendim ki dünyadaki tek bebek ben değilim. Ben ile gayet iyi anlaştık, anne ve babalarımızı eğitme konusunda fikir alışverişlerinde bulunduk.

Well it turns out, I’m not “unique”, there are others like me! Today, I met “Ben”. Ben is not quite not like me (Ben is a “boy”!) but pretty close. We’ve discussed some strategies in dealing with our parents and exchanged some poop stories. All and all, it was a pleasant day.

It turns out, I live here only with Papa and Mama. After Grandpa and Grandma, Dede and Babanne have left me This is not right! I’m supposed to trust that my parents can take of me on their own? I told you about my suspicions in my last report and now I’m all alone with them.
If you don’t receive any further reports from me, send in the cavalry!
